Proof of Inner Light

This is proof of inner light – rather, this is proof that Tan can and does smile. It’s very, very hard to catch his wonderful smile on camera. Most of our photos show him as a thoughtful, solemn baby, but he really does smile beautifully and often. My favorite is when he smiles so large and wide that his eyes narrow, his mouth gaping in toothless glee as if laughing – but he’s silent, or makes some incongruous noise like a grunt or squeal. My son is so strange. I love that, too.

The bouncy chair in which he sits was a gift from a fellow dojoite. I don’t remember where the sleeper came from, but nearly all the clothes he has now were generous gifts. And the hoodie was made by Kyra. Very cute.

Age 3.5 months. Alas, still bald.
